therapy and embodied healing

Our past experiences live in the body and nervous system. When you seek support, I provide a safe space for you to explore your inner world (thoughts, emotions, body sensations and nervous system responses) as a pathway towards awareness
and healing.

Therapy is designed for your unique needs using a collaborative approach where you remain in control of the process at all times. There’s not a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. This may be short or long term, depending on your needs and interests.

Perhaps you’re seeking support for:
  • anxiety and stress
  • depression
  • post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • complex trauma
  • persistent pain
  • chronic fatigue
  • insomnia
  • life direction and purpose

I offer a form of trauma-informed psychodynamic psychotherapy (The Conversational Model) designed for restoring connection with yourself. This process of therapy addresses the losses to the sense of self that occurs within the circumstances
of complex trauma and in the process of adapting to difficult life circumstances and relationships.

Because talk therapy only accesses some parts of the brain, I offer a mind-body approach rooted in neuroscience, attachment theory and trauma theory. This includes working with nervous system regulation and the biological foundations of
safety within, and also considers the foundations of safety in relationship with others.

I believe, along with current trauma theory, that the body and brain, when given the opportunity, have the capacity to heal. Personalised embodied healing practices can be offered within sessions including yoga, breathing, mindfulness,
somatic tracking and trauma resiliency practices. I offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for persistent pain and trauma, Trauma-Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TC-TSY) and Trauma Resiliency Model.

Embodiment practices can be integrated within talk therapy sessions in order to connect with your inner world and ultimately restore a deeper connection with yourself.

The two most important phrases in therapy, as in yoga, are -

“Notice that”

“What happens next?”

Once you start approaching your body with curiosity rather than with fear, everything shifts.
